And everything Matthew said was with half closed lips in a whispered voice- so hard to understand him this season. Witch training was just standing around with some strings. I found myself looking forward to the more modern scenes and could not get into the 1590s at all. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as great as I had hoped. I was indifferent to Phoebe in the books and I'm still indifferent to her in the show. I've read the series numerous times and it still makes no sense and anyone with some ideas can reach out. I wanted that to be in the show because it allowed her to grow and I wanted a breakdown of the prophecy. Perhaps my only true disappointment was the omitted prophecy and Diana's scenes with the goddess which also brings us back to the baby. Season 1 gave me low expectations and even though i was hoping Diana would fly during her scene with Kit and Louisa what I got was acceptable. I was not disappointed with how they brought the scenes from the book to life. Season 2 definitely improved over season 1. The books described it but i couldn't really imagine it till i saw Matthew's portrayal. I was also worried about the blood rage scenes thinking it was going to be overly dramatic but it legit gave me a reason to be worried. I love Philippe and he did not disappoint. I was sad about Ibrahim and the other familiars being cut including bennu but the show was already juggling too many characters but it still manages to hold it all together. I was worried all the historical events that happened in book will make it feel dragged. The love scenes were few but that was less of a worry for me. It only felt rushed to me in some scenes like Diana questioning her identity and her humanity after killing chompier or even her scenes with her father and more but overall it was great. I’m just so happy with the costumes, the sets, the actors, the magic adaptation. Liked Marcus angsting over having to step up, after being treated like the baby of the family for two centuries. They found a good Phoebe, and made her journey believable. Lots of adaptive changes, but I think it came out very well indeed.Īlmost didn’t notice we didn’t have Matthew and Diana for an episode. I guess it was a very smart budgetary choice to set the Bohemian action in a castle hunting lodge, instead of the city of Prague. I can’t believe they got a scriptwriter and an actor to nail Phillipe, and the journey of Diana and Phillipe’s relationship, and Phillipe and future Matthew. Easily my favourite episode, even with so much else I’m so happy with. I’m really bitter the script spent half an hour on travel and so little time with Mary, and Jack’s adoption.īut did episode 6 ever make up for it. Way too much time spent travelling to meet Phillipe, all of the talk could have been done in a silent travel montage, even Diana falling off her horse she’s so tired. Not nearly enough chemistry and friendship scenes with Mary Sydney. In fact we didn’t even see Diana and Matthew talking about taking him in. My only two gripes (maybe three) were: blink and you miss it adoption of Jack.
